The Opportunity

We are seeking a creative and motivated Graphic Design & Communications Intern to join our dynamic team in Beirut. This is a hands-on role where you will be at the heart of telling the visual story of our impactful projects in Lebanon. You will work directly with the Operations team to develop compelling content that raises the profile of our mission to create better urban environments for all.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Create Engaging Visual Content: Design and develop a wide range of materials, including social media graphics, infographics, reports, presentations, posters, leaflets, and promotional items.

  • Support Digital Storytelling: Assist in producing and editing videos and photos for projects, events, and UN-Habitat’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).

  • Uphold Brand Identity: Ensure all communication materials consistently adhere to UN-Habitat’s brand guidelines.

  • Manage Digital Assets: Maintain and organize an archive of all produced digital materials.

  • Stay Ahead of Trends: Conduct research on the latest trends in visual content creation and digital communication to keep our outreach fresh and effective.

  • Provide General Support: Assist with other communications activities and special projects as assigned.

Who We Are Looking For (Qualifications)

Education:

  • You must be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or currently enrolled in/graduated from a Master’s program (within the last year) in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Advertising, Digital Media, or a directly related field.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in the Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Creative Flair: A strong portfolio demonstrating skills in graphic design, layout, and visual storytelling.

  • Video & Photo Editing: Experience with editing and retouching videos and photos is highly desirable.

  • Language: Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is a significant advantage.

  • Cultural Fit: A genuine interest in the work of the United Nations, with a commitment to its ideals and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.

Internship Conditions

  • This is an unpaid internship.

  • Interns are responsible for all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses.

  • The UN does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
