Key Responsibilities
As a Purchasing Agent, you will ensure the timely acquisition of raw materials (steel, aluminum) and components to support our production schedules.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to meet budget and project deadlines.
- Procurement Execution: Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and confirm receipt/accuracy of orders.
- Supply Chain Tracking: Monitor the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for all critical materials and coordinate pickups with the Shipping/Receiving department.
- Inventory Control: Maintain proper inventory levels for stock materials and manage “re-order” tags to prevent shortages.
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: Work closely with Engineering and Production to understand material grades and project specifications.
- Documentation: Electronically file POs and maintain the ERP system (E2 or similar) with accurate vendor data.
Qualifications & Skills
We are looking for a detail-oriented negotiator who thrives under pressure.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Material Knowledge: Familiarity with material grades (metals, steel, aluminum) and reading blueprints is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and experience with ERP/MRP software.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize work in a deadline-driven setting.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Business is a plus.
